If I recall correctly, around the same time that you need to check your valve clearance you also have to check if the main engine bolts have become lose. Which will require you to tear the upper cover of the cylinder and to use a torque ratchet to determine if bolts have become lose. Yet, I've done the torque check when I've changed the infamous leaking plug and checked my valve clearance. Now doing the valve clearance will require patience because of the constrained access. ( Unless you want to take out the engine).
